First Quarter and Gibbous Moon

January 30 Monday
With this Taurus Moon we can sense the attachments that keep us from breaking away from social structures that restrict our independence. Losing those possessions or connections is like being tossed out of paradise, but one of the lessons for Taurus is to let go and disown. True ownership is found in such a process. That advice is easily said but not done. Although Taurus knows how to make do, this sign does not like to deviate from the norm. Giving to others, to needy causes, is one way in which the Taurus part of us can slip into some other level of being that can transform our dependence on the past.

January 31 Tuesday
Last night the Taurus Moon entered her first quarter phase. It is time to be committed to a new course of action by nurturing and developing our inspirations for following our own paths. We can get passed our emotional hang-ups by heeding personal values and relying on our will power and self-discipline. The key is really trusting those inspirations. Today there are unexpected experiences which we get guided into that can get us through some rough times. These moments are like fate dropping by at just the right time to make possible disasters into amazing, miraculous good fortune.

February 1 Wednesday
With this Taurus Moon we feel like parading our ideals. Yet making that connection may be more difficult than anticipated. At 12:06 pm, MT, the Moon goes void of course, sweeping off the aesthetic tastes of Taurus for eight minutes. At 12:14 pm, the Moon moves into curious Gemini. All sorts of things can be discovered and many choices are presented. Gemini has a strong urge to socialize, but today engagement with others may be a bit uncomfortable or demanding. If we are not careful and selective, we could drain our energy on others and not be able to take care of our own needs.

February 2 Thursday
We start the day with a Gemini Moon determined to turn things around so that our thoughts and feelings are in tune with each other. Former acquaintances may come into play in turns of getting our needs addressed and satisfied. Especially if these people are on the same wavelength as we are. In the course of pursuing a new direction, we can move along smoothly today or get stuck in a dark alley. Independence might be the key to freeing oneself of difficult pressures building up and seeing situations from a different viewpoint. This Gemini Moon can support all sorts of explorations.

February 3 Friday
With this Gemini Moon our ability to keep moving away from a former nesting situation is tested by the strength of our internal sense of will power. No matter how things might or might not have changed, everything seems the same, as Neptune, the planet of unification, enters its sign Pisces and merges all into a melting pot. Resistance may be emotional or psychological, making us feel out of contact or socially distant. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

February 4 Saturday
Last night the Gemini Moon entered her gibbous phase. During this period it is important to stay focused on the priority of questioning a familiar condition by comparing and contrasting it with new ones. The changeable Moon moved into individualistic Cancer early this morning. Today we can confront the drive that propels us to search for a better social container that supports our collective identity more consciously. On Sunday, pay close attention to internal processes. Built up pressures can point to criteria one needs to move away from a no longer sustainable situation.

New and Crescent Moon

January 23 Monday
We have an Aquarius New Moon, heralding in the Chinese New Year, the year of the water dragon which favors growth and lives by a philosophy it shares with Aquarius, which is: to your own self, be true. This new Moon cycle reflects on how each of us marches to a personal tune. Our personal evolution is dependent on our loyalty to our conscience, to what we know to be true about directions taken. This evening the planet Mars goes retrograde, shifting energy inward to reconsider the morals that motivate us and bringing a message about how to rededicate ourselves to a virtuous livelihood.

January 24 Tuesday
This Aquarius new Moon suggests looking for the potential of using individual drive and force in new ways. We could remap the day according to the plot of a fairy tale. What can be used as a magic wand? What forces reshape those tedious tasks? Whose story does the day really address? Where is the real “me” in the events that occur? What does the structure of the day tell me about myself and my dreams? How do conformity and non-conformity interact? Is one of them missing? The Aquarius part of our horoscopes tells us about our inner rebel. Does this non-conformist act on principle or whim?

January 25 Wednesday
The Moon moved into Pisces early this morning, picking up all sorts of things looming on the horizon. Issues emerge around serving the greater good versus one’s own inclinations that vary from the masses. So much of what we make of the world and our personal lives is our own creation based on limited perceptions. What is real and sound is a problem for Pisces. Do we put up with familiar scenes, even though we have unpleasant emotional reactions, thinking it’s just a strange feeling that has little to do with external reality, or do we retreat, suspecting hidden, bad influences?

January 26 Thursday
With this Pisces Moon we feel like joining group activities which usually means going along with expectations set for such participation. Our usual interactional ability may suppress impulses to act on individual impulses to do things according to personal feelings. Following those inclinations will bring freshness to social experiences today that just might work out some tensions. At 6:57 pm, MT, the Moon enters her crescent phase, when effort is needed to overcome a tendency to fall back on old habits around dealing with conflicts between group demands and personal morals.

January 27 Friday
The Pisces Moon is void of course this morning, washing away the collective behaviors that this sign idealizes. We may want to keep a lid on personal agendas until 11:28 am, MT, when the Moon moves into self-assertive Aries. Our thoughts can easily turn into actions. We can act cleverly and quickly. The element of surprise is an advantage, but we may benefit from taking time to reflect on emerging directions and how things ought to be. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

January 28 Saturday
This weekend’s Aries Moon encourages a release of held tension, especially if it is preventing independent action. Personal thoughts battle against over-interpretations of present circumstances. Individual preferences resist being pinned down by group expectations. On Sunday it may take an attitude adjustment and self-discipline to proceed on a preferred path. A measure of the rightness of an emerging direction is its virtue for oneself, others, and the planet. Does this conform with former criteria for evaluating a new course of action? If not, let the old ways slip away.

Last Quarter and Balsamic Moon

January 16 Monday
The Libra Moon entered her last quarter phase early this morning. This is when the meaning of a cycle becomes clear, and we are urged to remove barriers to a new way of behaving. In this cycle that has to do with how we approach and maneuver through change so that we flow smoothly down an evolutionary path. At 8:29 am, MT, the Moon goes void of course for an hour of blowing away the diplomacy of Libra. Hypersensitivity reigns until 9:33 am, when the Moon moves into probing Scorpio. The more we understand ourselves from the inside out, the easier it becomes to puncture self-illusions.

January 17 Tuesday
With this Scorpio Moon searching for a hidden meaning in those things that support the flow of growth can be opportune. Inner workings may be found as each discovery is used to build a network of associations wherein deficiencies are strengthened by other factors. Within this circle of unexpected insights one can perceive marvelous opportunities for some changes at a core level of being. One can arrive at a point of transformational breakthrough or at least recognize the critical ingredients needed for a fundamental shift to occur. With Scorpio, great things can happen. Great desire and courage are needed!

January 18 Wednesday
With this Scorpio Moon there is an awareness of the need to enter a new social realm to advance precious parts of our soul. Today brings out our edgy role of bringing cultural dreams into reality. At 11:31 am, MT, the Moon goes void of course for an hour of draining off the strange perceptions of Scorpio. Let go of ego concerns during this time. At 12:29 pm, the Moon moves into fun-loving Sagittarius, lightening up moods. A spirit of freedom to leap into high-risk living exists. Laughter and good feelings circulate everywhere. So much is possible that avoiding getting stuck in over-extension is hard to escape.

January 19 Thursday
This Sagittarius Moon brings to mind the care and effort needed to let our souls lead us, to trust the path pointed out. Associations with this journey are evoked today, particularly by some of the people encountered who seem to express things related to the direction or changes one is taking. At 12:30 pm, the Moon enters her balsamic phase. This begins a period of transcending present conditions to prepare for something new being conceived. Retreating and biding one’s time while re-aligning current conditions are good ways to prepare for the next cycle beginning early Monday morning.

January 20 Friday
The balsamic Sagittarius Moon oozes off her light onto the Sun this morning as it moves into the innovative sign of Aquarius. Mood swings are prevalent as creative impulses move one from depression to hypersensitivity. At 2:49 pm, MT, the Moon goes void of course, smothering the passionate adventures of Sagittarius for an hour. Seek refuge until the Moon moves into take-charge Capricorn at 3:40 pm. Then we can go forward with the help of promises looming in the near future.

January 21 Saturday
This Capricorn Moon brings to mind a sense of dignity and character. Capricorn demands the real thing, no phony baloney for this sign! As serious and organized as Capricorn can be, expect some sudden about-turns today. On Sunday there are challenges to any resolve to take a new course with a recently acquired behavior. The attention needed can wander off target. At 6:38 pm, MT, Sunday, the Moon goes void of course, shaking off the goal of pursuing soul growth in this cycle as we ready ourselves for a new Moon after midnight. The Moon moves into non-conformist Aquarius at 7:53 pm.

Full and Disseminating Moon

January 9 Monday
This full Cancer Moon brings revelations about how we foster growth and make things or relationships greater than they were. We are given an inside view of how our bonds to others change us or of how we resist dynamics that promise to alter us. It is natural for the sign of Cancer to adapt to the company being kept even if feeling unfit or uncomfortable. The worst scenario is that we lock out what seems unmanageable in the Cancer part of our charts at this time. The full Moon phase urges us to find ways to provide for the improvement of what is revealed. The Moon voids herself of protective Cancer from 7:25 pm until 9:25pm, MT, when she moves into remodeling Leo.

January 10 Tuesday
The Leo Moon can incite a need for approval, especially about or from things or people that relate to the Leo part of our charts. Sometimes this sign lacks proper insight into its presence or performance. It depends on feedback from others to be fully self-aware. Problem-solvers and teachers are the best providers of assistance and information which can get us to abandon some obstructive habit today and perhaps restore some spiritual practice that creates growth. Leo thrives on honest self-representation. With Leo enthusiasm we can shine forth and let the good times roll.

January 11 Wednesday
This Leo Moon brings out how well we can work and play simultaneously while engaging others, getting them to join in on both levels of task and fun orientation. Our role is to activate both and then observe carefully. Instead of the applause Leo thrives on, we’ll be warmed by insights about how social rituals can provide personal growth. Many things can be magnetically brought together in the company of others, making it easy to imagine having what has been longed for and seeing the path that will bring it. We might also discover what has been preventing us from fulfilling certain wishes.

January 12 Thursday
The Moon moved into the discernment of Virgo during the night. It’s best to set priorities this morning that will enhance our self-sufficiency, build composure and help us live up to our inner needs. It’s important to consciously contain what we take for granted in our lives, all those things that are usually unnoticed. The Moon enters her disseminating phase at 3:04 pm, MT, when we are called to begin demonstrating what we have learned about how we personally grow within social structures, including how we avoid that process. Recognition of specific habits reinforces one’s willpower to maintain or eliminate them.

January 13 Friday
With this Virgo Moon come mental breakthroughs and thoughts dealing with raw honesty about some daily habits. At the same time there’s emotional confusion about them as well. We may feel driven to commit to a course of action that brings a behavior under control. Virtue and dedication need to be summoned. At 6:58 pm, MT, the Moon goes void of course, sweeping off analytical Virgo until tomorrow morning when she moves into selective Libra. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

January 14 Saturday
The disseminating Libra Moon brings together all that is needed for good cheer, including an attitude of wanting the best for everyone. Libra wants to keep the spiritual bonds alive. To do that today we need to find ways to make our souls sing, which won’t be as easy as it sounds. On Sunday we may be preoccupied with problem-solving a serious matter. Libra is gifted with a hypercritical eye for seeing both sides of an issue. This sign considers contexts and differing perspectives. It can provide objective feedback on our experimenting with a change of habit.

First Quarter and Gibbous Moon

January 2 Monday
The first quarter Aries Moon offers unstoppable energy if a direction has been chosen. Otherwise, frustration and exhaustion may show up. Without some high aspiration, confusion can rear its head in multiple ways. At1:07 pm, MT, the Moon goes void of course, dousing out the enthusiasm of Aries for two hours. Psychic information may leap out of nowhere during this time, and our instincts can pick up on it unless we choose to ignore it. At 3:16 pm, the Moon moves into trustworthy Taurus encouraging a sense of self-sufficiency in dealing with any obstacles. We may miraculously solidify important elements that support growth.

January 3 Tuesday
With this Taurus Moon come intense and extreme opportunities to make some major changes that carve out openings to greater happiness. By using our trust meter we can spot some root issues that keep us tied to collective behaviors and external appearance. Taurus is often motivated by the possibility of reclaiming paradise. To do that it is important to seek the inner juice or spark that supplies the details of an ideal existence. If your soul were to make a list of what would be found in your ideal reality matrix, what would be itemized? Taurus can help us grasp what needs to be rediscovered.

January 4 Wednesday
This Taurus Moon can provide insight into how we mythicize the past. We can perceive how our personal matters relate to abstract theories, applicable through the ages. Such generalizations can indicate special needs for a productive day. Some essential work is coming into an ideal form. Taurus is good at concentration, at gathering valuable data and experiences and putting them together in a usable form. Such an accumulation can be treated in a grounded, practical way to contribute to the flow of one’s personal growth. Taurus is a self-contained sign that is open to joint efforts today.

January 5 Thursday
Early this morning the Taurus Moon entered her gibbous phase initiating a period of using one’s talents and skills to complete a growth process with a flair. When the Moon began this phase, she was also shaking off the splendor of sensuous Taurus. At 3:44 am, MT, she moved into versatile Gemini, displaying many options, perhaps in our dreams, with which to begin the day. Our spiritual identity is reflected in many everyday experiences. An awareness of that become evident today as well as adjustments that will enhance our understanding of our souls’ needs for growth.

January 6 Friday
This morning the Gemini Moon links us to past experiences of mastery or expertise. The willingness to pursue soul growth and understanding in this cycle begins to express itself in a clear form which can indicate what still needs to be worked out. We can easily shift and make room for that, but may feel forced into action. Gemini tends more towards thinking and evaluating situations rather than jumping in and doing something. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

January 7 Saturday
The Moon moved into deeply emotional Cancer at 2:05 pm, MT. This is the Moon’s sign and just like her this sign is very changeable, and this afternoon very unstable. As the Moon approaches her fullness, it is important for us to see our past as an integral part of our future. Cancer’s attachment to the past is symptomatic of the strength of family ties. Such bonds are meant for care and protection until one is ready to venture forward on one’s own. Sunday brings a sense of adventure to improve by exploring beyond the familiarity of one’s birth relatives. After midnight we have a full Moon revealing the complexity of bonds that foster our growth.

Crescent and First Quarter Moon

December 26 Monday
The Capricorn Moon goes void of course at 6:36 am, MT, for almost four hours of chipping away the crystallized habits of this exacting sign. During this time it is beneficial to let go of “must’s” and “ought’s” and all expectations and simply observe and allow inklings of a new form to stand out. At 10:14 am, the Moon moves into Aquarius, a sign ever-ready for innovation. We are faced with lots of material for that, some of which may have peculiar twists attached. Everything needed for a desired transition to occur seems to be available.

December 27 Tuesday
This Aquarius Moon brings many options for change. There’s lots to do; don’t forget that multi-tasking is overrated. Some even say it’s an illusion. Being prepared to take on anything and everything is simply “readiness”. Trying to do it all at once is complicated and perhaps crazy. So this is a day for organizing and prioritizing based on what is ripe for doing. Aquarius is known for its friendliness, which could mean that companionship is available for the work at hand, or someone with pleasant vibes may be encountered.

December 28 Wednesday
The Aquarius Moon entered her crescent phase early this morning stirring up urgency to explore what mysteries lies beyond the safety of one’s known and comfortable sphere of daily activities. Rules and restrictions may be burdensome but worth enduring as the possibility of a fuller existence begins to emerge. The Moon goes void of course at 2:32 pm, MT, for a little over two hours of elusive yet extremely creative impulses flying through our psyches. At 4:45 pm, the Moon moves into the deeply perceptive waters of Pisces in search of precious feelings to serve as guides for growth and understanding.

December 29 Thursday
The Pisces Moon awakens our awareness to a plethora of powerful openings through which we can live with increased spiritual consciousness. The more responsibility we take on for doing this the deeper and deeper we can live according to the urges of our souls. Otherwise, we can feel disoriented today and end up in a mess. The choices we individually make today are important to the easing of collective crises. They transcend our personal lives. The threads of fate tie us to others. The most difficult part of detecting this is discerning whether or not involvement feels right as versus like an entanglement that sucks us into another’s ego.

December 30 Friday
With this Pisces Moon we need to keep attuned to the energy of our personal rhythms. This can be overwhelming as the Moon goes void of course at 6:37 am, MT, until tomorrow morning. During this time we can be easily influenced and feel lost. Let go of unrealistic expectations but don’t hesitate to visualize what you would like to feel today along with circumstances that are appealing. It’s best to dwell on possible, not impossible, dreams. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

December 31 Saturday
The Moon moved into impulsive Aries early this morning, and actions seem to come in spurts and bursts. First impressions seem to get all the attention. Tonight at 11:15, MT, the Moon enters her first quarter phase, beginning a period of choosing to take the right action for developing some new habits that substantiate a position of embracing fresh soul-directed experiences. Sunday presents a new phase of activity which we can kick off with the quickness of Aries. This can call for teamwork and critical evaluation which outgoing Aries can handle but may overlook important factors if impatient.

Balsamic and New Moon

December 19 Monday
With this Libra Moon many links show up as if out of thin air. Synchronicity is mysteriously prominent. Factors and people converge that play a role in winning activities. They are practically unnoticeable, blending in as if invisible. Yet they all contribute to social grace and play a role in making the world a better place. Some may say that angels have manifested in others or secretly possessed objects with an aim to assist. Libra is gifted with inner vision to see how people and things can be arranged to interact in the most optimal ways. Unfortunately some underhanded maneuvers can show up. Check control issues.

December 20 Tuesday
We begin the day with a Scorpio Moon bringing everything into a common focus to recognize the meaning of how we map our way through specific, repetitive situations. There’s the hope of exploring the undercurrents which direct the unseen forces that move us towards greater unity. Yet churning excitement leads to going in several directions at once and taking risks which could divert us from the meaning and purpose of our maneuvers. Overconfidence can veil the importance of some moves. It’s best to be sensitive to personal mood and attitude changes.

December 21 Wednesday
The Scorpio Moon moved into her balsamic phase early this morning. A new vision for the immediate future begins to take shape by playing around with various associations and using the insights that arise. This may call for letting go of old rituals and sources of blessings to be receptive to other beneficial influences. The seen and the unseen, the known and the unknown are intertwined. Everything is linked whether we are aware of that or not. On this day of mostly darkness, it is best to open all the passages to our hearts because the light in our hearts is the best guide in the dark. The Sun moves into Capricorn at 10:30 pm, MT. Happy Winter Solstice and new solar year!

December 22 Thursday
The Moon moved into the internal world of Sagittarius, searching for the meaning of recent findings and questioning recent experiences. There may be a strong desire to go off alone to avoid tense encounters or at least to go over an unfamiliar way of handling a confrontation. The Moon returns to the degree where she last met the Sun and eclipsed it, reminding us of where we stand in the greater scheme of things, and what we must deal with, and how we might handle certain situations differently. Sagittarius heats up our beliefs in wonderful things over the rainbow. We simply have to embark on the road never before traveled.

December 23 Friday
The Sagittarius Moon spurs our emotions to experience truth and inner growth. This sign trusts inner guidance. And today if confronted by some powerful force, it is best to rely on subtle inclinations or intuitions. Avoiding discomfort will only heighten feelings of being trapped. Stilling the mind can clear up doubts and increase sensitivity to psychic undercurrents. Breathing deeply can calm tensions and blow away frustrations, leading to greater clarity. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

December 24 Saturday
The Moon moved into self-mastery seeking Capricorn this morning and met up with the Sun for a new Moon at 11:05 am, MT, initiating an impulse to develop some new facet of oneself. There is the potential of radically liberating an aspect of our lives that can bring about a significant transformation. Pay attention to how you define yourself and how you long to be. The holiday spirit of this weekend churns up excitement and a hardy enthusiasm for performing acts that display responsibility and appreciation. Jupiter switches from retrograde to direct movement Sunday afternoon, giving a huge exclamation mark to generosity!
Merry Christmas!
