New Moon and Crescent Moon

September 10 Monday
The symbolism of Monday’s dark Virgo Moon hidden by the light of the Sun suggests that we call upon whatever level of technical proficiency we’ve attained to guide us through our daily tasks on automatic pilot. Certain subconscious patterns or psychological blockages may be highlighted by this lunar-solar relationship. The sun’s brilliance points out entrances to the inner sanctum of our soul as if in preparation for the Moon’s upstaging performance at the eclipse tomorrow morning. Be on the look out for contradictions and cross purposes within yourself as well as with others.

September 11 Tuesday
At 6:44 am, MDT, we have a new Moon in Virgo, eclipsing the Sun, initiating a theme of competitive performance within the context of group consciousness that displays and contributes to human excellence. With this eclipse at the Moon’s south node we are challenged to eliminate small-minded egotistical impulses, isolated personal indulgences, or hubris that hinder our connection to community. Find ways to circulate among others today as if you are their dancing partner. Notice how smoothly or roughly you do this. And do you impose your moves, or do you sense and give into the rhythm of interaction?

September 12 Wednesday
The Moon moves into Libra at 5:31 am, MDT, seeking to stabilize any highs and lows that may have shown up with yesterday’s eclipse. Libra calls for equilibrium, and during this new phase of the Moon’s we may find ourselves jumping into something over our heads. Social and emotional responsibilities may clash with a personal need to move beyond one’s usual capabilities. We can temper these clashes with Libra’s graceful and diplomatic social approaches. Libra offers us a sense of serenity and gently nudges us into the process of integrating oneself into the greater social whole.

September 13 Thursday
Thursday’s Libra Moon shares a sense of social sensitivity with us. Others may seem to understand us, and we them. Conversations might sound like a mutual admiration contest. We may appreciate and accept new ideas with this common receptiveness to what is being communicated, and we may be willing, out of curiosity, to take time out to experiment with the pros and cons of an enticing activity, even if what is suggested might have questionable standards. There may be an opportunity to face up to some kind of corruption, by creatively bringing in new possibilities.

September 14 Friday
Friday morning’s Libra moon gives us the overall view on both sides of the fence of what’s been taking shape since Tuesday’s new Moon. We may clearly see the comforts of the past and the gifts of the future. When the Moon goes void of course from 10:10 am, MDT, until late this afternoon, relax, escape from your usual reality, and ponder present choices. At 5:37 pm, the Moon moves into Scorpio, helping us investigate the shifting boundaries of current situations. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 1:00 to 1:30 pm, MDT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

September 15 Saturday
At 8:33 this morning, MDT, the Scorpio Moon entered her crescent phase. It’s time to anticipate what the results of staying with old familiar habits will be. There’s danger in stagnation, and there is danger in moving into unfamiliar territory. Will you take a stand and thrust yourself into grappling with change no matter how ambivalent it seems? On Sunday try to playfully turn your world inside out or upside down. Think of it as a puzzle. Subvert your normal activities. Do the evening first. Get a little weird, or a lot. At 5:40 pm, Sunday evening the Moon voids herself of Scorpio until tomorrow morning, perfect for an abnormal night.
