Balsamic & Full Moon

December 18 Monday
This week of Solstice begins with a balsamic Moon, day and night doubly portraying the darkness of winter. The Sagittarius Moon beacons us to journey farther and deeper into the unknown territory of the soul. In these last days of autumn there is a vibrant sense of new beginnings. Like the flickering, separate tongues of fire off the southwest’s luminarios, we may be looking for opportunities to explore new directions. Express any hidden sentiments and be willing to embrace unexpected requirements of new ventures.

December 19 Tuesday
This Sagittarius Moon dispenses guidance to move through the day, protected or screened off from outer or social difficulties by being direct, straightforward. We can be disoriented by con artists or evasive behavior. Emphasize priorities from your own perspective and be alert for unusual tests of your ability not to be distracted. At the same time, the prevailing darkness of the night suggests we move cautiously or surrender as one does in the dream state to whatever adventure presents itself. Let go and drift deeper into the kernel of your life that will emerge with the new Moon and the beginning of winter.

December 20 Wednesday
At 7:01 am, MST, we have a new Moon in Sagittarius, firing up a theme of getting down to the bare bones, of coming to terms with an issue that showed up with the last solar eclipse, around the end of summer. Can we clear it up, release what stands in the way, clear the path for a new direction? At the time of this new Moon, she goes void of course for about two and a half hours. Look for inspiration regarding a course of action by noting ideas and hunches that light up your mind this morning. At 9:39 am, the Moon moves into Capricorn, helping us get to core essentials.

December 21 Thursday
The Capricorn Moon may help us examine attractive ways of building something solid during the year ahead, especially if we can withdraw from distractions to develop ways to visualize what we want. The Moon goes void of course at 9:05 am, MST, until Friday afternoon. During this time minimize the importance of worldly goods and focus on broader visions that incorporate one’s spiritual essence. Be especially cautious as there is some very erratic energy today that can make it difficult to maneuver. Winter officially begins at 5:22 pm. Happy Solstice!

December 22 Friday
The Capricorn Moon is void of course until this afternoon, perhaps distorting our sense of reality as she empties out the solid, groundedness of Capricorn. Shopping during void moons can be haphazard and meaningless unless it’s for something you’ve been planning to buy for quite a while. At 2:49 pm, the Moon moves into Aquarius, a sign that can emphasize innovation, reminding us of this cycle’s theme of clearing out the old for a new direction. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 1:00 to 1:30 pm, MST, for the weekend Moon Minute.

December 23 Saturday
The Aquarius Moon helps us uncover how the events of the past three days relate to the theme of new beginnings without the debris of the past. The Moon enters her crescent phase at 8:37 pm, MST, reminding us that there is more to be done than just identifying a new awareness or opportunity. We need to change our reality by materializing our hopes and wishes for the future. On Sunday afternoon the Moon will be void of course from 1:09 pm until 6:43 pm. Slow down and be concerned about the greater good! We have a sentimental Pisces Moon on Christmas eve night reminding us of unconditional love.
