Last Quarter and Balsamic Moon

December 31Monday
The Libra Moon entered her last quarter phase within an hour after midnight. This is a time to honor what has been attained during the lunation and to actively turn one’s attention to the future in preparation for new glimpses of what has been thriving within one’s sub-conscious mind. The interplay of issues of safety and trust may be keenly comprehended and accepted. Libra can remind us of our alignment with certain cultural ideals that shield us from others whose beliefs seem outside of our sense of responsibility. Feelings of loyalty clash with thoughts of stretching one’s perspective beyond the current parameters.

January 1 Tuesday
We start 2008 with a Libra Moon inviting us to seek peace both within ourselves and with others, to find a balance of being true to self while honoring those who touch our lives. The Libra Moon brings awareness of gracious exchanges and criteria for pleasant social experiences. In her last quarter phase, the Moon points out worn out formalities to eliminate so that relationships can be strengthened by fresh rituals more meaningful for these times. At 5:33 pm, MST, the Moon goes void of course for an hour of fanning out the allurement of others that mesmerizes Libra. At 6:32 pm, she moves into transformative Scorpio. Happy New Year!

January 2 Wednesday
The Scorpio Moon is like a very deep well that promises future wealth, but it has to be activated by releasing the torrential current of feelings that flood the soul. Being cautious about letting others know how you feel can sometimes be wise, but learning how to extract the rough and offensive edges while fully emoting, demonstrates greater wisdom. Assumptions, sarcasm, insinuations, and sadism are among some of the culprits that bring trouble when feelings are exhibited with excessive force. Focus on your inner emotions and mess around with different ways of expressing them.

January 3 Thursday
Thursday”s Scorpio Moon draws us into dark, hazy spaces where boundaries blur and a purposeful direction evades us. Such a state is transitory. Find a haven where you can feel it. Search for it and give words to it. There are deeper implications that only you can explain. At 5:30 pm, MST, the Moon goes void of course until tomorrow morning, draining out the sometimes murky waters of Scorpio. This transitional time provides opportunities for deep healing especially through the use of energy medicine, like aromatherapy, flower essences, and a variety of healing touch methods.

January 4 Friday
The void of course Scorpio Moon entered her balsamic phase early this morning, a time when we can intensely feel the residue of this Moon cycle, particularly the cultural assumptions about what needs protection and what doesn’t. We may still be operating under them on several levels, or we may be juggling replacement behaviors for some or all of them. At 7:13 am, MST, the Moon moves into Sagittarius, leading us into greater understanding of cultural conditioning. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 1:00 to 1:30 pm, MST, for the weekend Moon Minute.

January 5 Saturday
The balsamic Sagittarius Moon searches for new possibilities, stirring up inklings of what the next cycle may bring, something about how one faces what lies in the path to getting what one wants out of life. Imagination can be extraordinarily active during this phase, and it can feed the inner needs of our souls. On Sunday the Sagittarius Moon believes in fighting for what is desired and encourages probing the depths of one’s mind for ways to satisfy longings. At 5:27 pm, MST, Sunday, the Moon goes void of course until 6:43 pm, when she moves into strategizing Capricorn.
