Balsamic and New Moon

January 11 Monday
Last night the Sagittarius Moon entered her balsamic phase, the time before a new Moon when the seeds of fresh impulses gain the heat of life to expand within us if we allow space for them by releasing useless clutter. What is germinating is a qualitative delight in the free flow of living that effortlessly glides around and over obstacles, much like successfully maneuvering through river rapids. Today we are powerfully attracted to kind-hearted folks. Destiny may connect some of us in perplexing or adversarial situations. We can make the best of such circumstances by aligning our inner energies with what is needed to renew a cooperative spirit.

January 12 Tuesday
The balsamic Sagittarius Moon may find us looking for happiness in serving someone less fortunate or bringing up issues of faith in the power of the unknown to resolve difficulties. By being passively reflective we may allow our deepest thoughts to come to the surface to inspire a new reality. With these revelations are opportunities to discard whatever is antiquated. Signs of things transforming are everywhere. At 7:43 pm, MT, the Moon goes void of course for two hours of burning up the rest of Sagittarius’s fervor before moving into the mountainous terrain of Capricorn at 9:54 pm. Climbing such land can be humbling.

January 13 Wednesday
With this Capricorn Moon we may feel boldly decisive about what we want to accomplish today but certain authoritative dictates challenge us to take action in an unfamiliar reality. Guidance comes from internal conversations as our outer world begins to restructure itself with Saturn going retrograde, drawing our attention to our internal boss and the automatic paths of least resistance to which we are so accustomed. The Moon meets up with Mercury retrograde this morning, reminding us of our inner needs when we approach new territory and of what new rules we may need to learn to exist in unknown surroundings.

January 14 Thursday
On this last day of a Moon cycle, it may serve us well to retreat, at least for a short period of time, to take stock of what we believe to be true in our lives. Be prepared to have some of those truths shattered. If our lives have been based on the authority of our elders without questioning, we may encounter, with tomorrow’s eclipse and the ensuing lunation, some crisis that compels us to defy what we have taken for granted. If we cannot accept the challenge to act according to the dictates of our hearts that often give us flashes of a greater truth, we may sell out and live a very restricted existence.

January 15 Friday
Just after 12:11 am, MT, we had a solar eclipse new Moon, visible in parts of Africa and Asia. This cycle brings up issues of happiness and joy and how willing are we to risk some good standing or solid reputation in order to experience something fully, especially something that triggers a sense of ecstasy. Emotions run high, especially those directly linked to relationships and love. The Moon is voiding, leaving the astute awareness of Capricorn this morning and moving into the erratically innovative space of Aquarius at 10:17 am, MT. Listen to MoonWise tomorrow on the worldwide web at ksfr.org from 2:00 to 2:30 pm, MT, for the weekend Moon Minute.

January 16 Saturday
With this weekend’s new Aquarius Moon we may feel like we flying along a thin line between joy and struggle. Our inner truth, psychic discrimination, and objectivity mesh with a deep sense of what’s beyond the present reality. What to do, what direction to take, is best decided by our emotional indicators. Sunday at 1:22 pm, MT, the Moon goes void of course, blowing off the future plans of Aquarius. For the rest of Sunday our consciousness may easily slip into various levels of awareness, and new insights about our passions may dawn on us, especially if we take time to be introspective.
