New and Crescent Moon

July 16 Monday At 6:31 am, MT, the balsamic Moon moves into the helpful and thoughtful sign of Cancer. With this placement we can access many vivid, stimulating images emanating from our souls. It can be like downloading movie after movie from Netflix without an intermission. We can explore theme after theme starring major archetypes. Some of them may bring us into new emotional terrain, yet we can be buffered from the harsh reality that some feelings accompany. All of this may be in one’s mind and/or in the parade of events throughout the day. Of course, we need to pay attention to keep up with it all yet not go overboard. July 17 Tuesday With this Cancer Moon social experimentation comes easily. We could pick a vulnerable role to play in interactions, especially one that is bold and brassy. Such an exercise can build stamina and increase a feeling of power. More importantly this exercise can give one a sense of emerging impulses as we approach a new Moon. Cancer can teach us how to control our environment. This sign, however, does tend to adopt a structure and stick with it, setting up habits within the containment of its tough shell. Today has some challenges which can coax, or even force, us to not seek shelter and hide. July 18 Wednesday Most of the day we have a balsamic Cancer Moon that has a hard time letting go of no-longer-useful habits which don’t display some special capacity. Demands can leave one feeling trapped with an intense need for freedom and independence. Tonight at 10:24 pm, MT, we have a new Moon beginning a cycle of noticing our behaviors when faced with dramatic or catastrophic forces that threaten our security. Do we panic? Do we seek help and guidance? How are we reacting to economic and climate changes? At the time the Moon conjoins the Sun she also begins to void herself of protective Cancer. Vulnerabilities may show up in dreams tonight. July 19 Thursday The Moon is in warm and generous Leo, softening harshness in the surrounding environment and zealously finding openings that can profoundly change the day into a flamboyant one that Leo can display with confidence. We can consciously create the space and events we want today. Using our inner radar we can work miracles and get what we want. Fear, however, may get churned up. Leo can feel hemmed in by pending threats. There’s the readiness to begin something new amidst confusion about how to fix things at a bigger level. Such perplexity can leave the Leo part of us feeling powerless. July 20 Friday This Leo Moon features articulate, even eloquent and witty, social exchanges. Some of the solar glitz that Leo can easily fall into might stir up trouble in heated conversations when convictions are voiced. In such a dynamic, one’s reactions, emotionally and spiritually, are clues to what this cycle is about personally. This would be an opportunity to take responsibility for one’s limitations and practice versatility in the face of an emotional onslaught. We’re challenged to seek a higher perspective than the down-to-earth one typical of this sign. We may be blessed with optimistic revolutionary insights. On Sunday at 4:01 am, the Sun moves into cheery Leo. And at 2:59 pm, the Moon enters her crescent phase. It’s time to take the feelings that have arisen over some possibly dangerous situations and challenge them by scrutinizing them with one’s instincts. This includes the primitive side of one’s emotional states.
